Introducing Our Fully-Integrated Repacking & Consolidation Facility

ZS Special T’s is our state-of-the-art custom packing and repacking facility located in Rio Rico, Arizona, enabling us to offer value-added specialty packs, private label packing and efficient shipping  consolidation.  Here, we provide clamshells, bags, consumer cartons, display cartons and other custom packing options for tomatoes, chilis, cucumbers, pickles, zucchini, melons and other products.

Additionally, ZS Special T’s offers time- and money-saving consolidation, allowing us to collect your products from multiple suppliers and ship them to you as a full load, rather than the smattering of small loads you likely receive now.  This process is fully-integrated and computer-controlled for maximum efficiency and accuracy.

In our ongoing effort to provide the safest and cleanest fresh fruits and vegetables, our facility participates in the NutriClean 3rd Party Dock Testing Program – your assurance that the produce you receive is free of pesticide residues and pathogens.  Additionally, all Z&S Fresh! products are Primus Labs 3rd Party Certified.

Ozone Disinfecting System

Z&S has implemented an Ozone Produce Wash System to disinfect all vegetables prior to packing. The system, designed specifically for Z&S by Joseph Smilinek of the USDA and Trevor Seslow of UC Davis, utilizes ozone as a safe, effective and environmentally friendly alternative to harsh chemicals.

Ozone is a naturally-occurring element that has been used for over 100 years in bleaching, sterilizing water and a wide range of other applications requiring oxidation.  A form of oxygen, ozone is produced when an electric spark is passed through air.

The use of ozone disinfection is rapidly gaining popularity within the food industry, and is now being used in:

  • Fresh-cut produce facilities
  • Vegetable production and shipping plants
  • Fruit industries
  • Cereal grain and nut factories
  • Animal protein facilities (land and sea)
  • Dairy industry
  • More

Throughout the agricultural industry, ozone disinfection is now the method of choice for:

  • Sanitation of produce wash waters (indirect contact)
  • Sanitation of produce with ozonated water (direct contact)
  • Beverage water treatment (for sanitation, deodorization & mineral removal)
  • Container sanitation (prior to filling)
  • Food process/ingredient water treatment
  • Industrial wastewater treatment
  • Aquaculture
  • Well water treatment to control mildew, increase yields & improve soil penetration
